Phyllis Harris, General Manager, Worldwide Communications and Media Industriesis responsible for Microsoft’s strategy in the telecommunications, cable, media, and entertainment industries. Her responsibilities include industry strategy and marketing, development of solution blueprints, ISV/SI partner and industry community engagement, sales readiness and execution.

Phyllis has 15 years’ experience in the global Communications and Media Industry both in developed and emerging markets. Harris served 5 years as General Manager of Microsoft’s Communications Sector business in Latin America, building strategic partnerships and driving sales with Telecommunications and Media Companies throughout the region. She previously managed the Communications Sector team for Microsoft in Atlanta, Georgia driving partnership and sales with the major Communications and Media Companies across the Southeastern United States.

Before joining Microsoft in 2003, Harris held various sales and marketing positions at Sun Microsystems in the Telecommunications and Public Sector Groups. Prior to Sun she worked in the Education Division at Apple Computer, Inc.

Harris began her work life as a teacher of Spanish and History when personal computing was in its infancy and holds a B.A. in History and Spanish from Vanderbilt University, and a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of Memphis.
